Trozena Waterfall
When we visited Trozena last May, we read about a mysterious waterfall. Mysterious because though we could see remnants of an old stream in a picnic area between the village and the church, there was no waterfall at all. But then it rained. A lot. And somebody said there was a waterfall at Trozena. So we went and had a look. If you see one water feature after all the rains, you should make sure it is this one. It is spectacular...
Flooded Picnic Area
First things first, if you don't know where Trozena is, you can have a look at our blog on Trozena. There will be a map there. Basically, you want to take the B6 from Paphos and turn left onto the F616 after the Asprokremmos Dam. Keep on that road all the way up the valley until you see the signpost to Trozena and Gerovasa. Use the map link at the bottom of the blog if you are unsure. We actually came from the Dora end, but either is suitable. You can see the waterfall without entering Trozena. However, if you want to explore the village but are unsure about driving down those narrow Trozena roads, just park at the top of the hill, by the abandoned house.
Booty Territory
We had been here before so knew where we were going. We wanted to head to the church first. On the way we passed this picnic spot, which was now under water.
Not Too Deep
The water is not actually very deep here and we drove through it without any hassle. What surprised me though, is how calm it is. I would have expected a stronger current.
A Stronger Current
Here's the reason why it was so calm. Most of the water is flowing down here.
