Polemi Lockdown Part 2
Pavlos is on a sort-of crossroads. The main road has a sharp corner with two side roads branching off. This is one of the side roads. If you continue down here you come to that modern water feature I showed you earlier. We are going down the other side road, towards the church.
Yap yap yap
The dogs must be pretty full of themselves at the moment. This little one was very noisy and keen for us to steer clear of its patio.
The Local Church
Polemi has a few churches, but this is the main one. You can see that they have already burnt the woodpile that was beginning to form here. Normally it would get bigger and bigger until Easter, when it would be set ablaze.
It is important to remember that, for Cypriots, Easter is the biggest event of the year. It means more to them than Christmas means to people in the UK. Imagine (if you are British) what it must be like for them at the moment. How would you feel if you had to socially distance yourself from your loved ones in the run-up to Christmas?
Shit Happens
This is another Polemi Business that gets a shout out. A valuable service they offer, if you have a septic tank that needs emptying. The lorries have a massive tube that gets fed into your tank from the road, and sucks up all your waste. If you need them, this is the number: Kyriakos 99762107.
Make a note of it if you have a septic tank. Believe me, when it hits the fan, you won't want to hang about.
Towards The Main Square
There is a Martial Arts Club on the left. You can see the yellow banner. Last year, the tulip festival was held here, and it also plays host to a summer fayre.
Actually, the tulip festival was the year before last. It was in the school last year, because the weather was so bad.
