The State Of The Paphos Reservoirs
Back To The Bridge
Anyway, lets get a closer look at that bridge. Is it Venetian? I'm no expert but I don't think so. Most of the ones I have seen tend to be hump-backed. However, the one at Kalopanagiotis certainly isn't so I could be wrong.
Evretou Bridge
And don't forget, further up-stream you will find Skarfos, which is another Venetian Bridge. So perhaps it is after all of that vintage? This shot is from the other side of the bridge. I was hoping there would be a shield there giving information as to the construction date, but no such luck. I might try visiting - on foot - to get a closer look, but it is not my top priority at the moment!
I wonder how deep the mud is here? If I do visit, I might bring a shovel...
Water's Edge
So that's Evretou. Quite depressing really, but hopefully the tide is literally turning now. Before we go to the other reservoirs, let's take a quick peek at the data.
Yada
When I started collecting the photos for this article, the Asprokremmos was at 7.3%. As of the 12th it has gone back to 7.6%. This is the first time the level has gone up in ages. Even during the storms of last year it went down, as all the water was absorbed by the ground. I did try and get a figure for today (13th) but the site isn't responding at the moment.
If you want some good news though, take a look at the figures for Mavrokolympos, which had to be emptied last year due to a leak. It is now over 30% full!
