Finding Prodromos Monastery
Distant Pylons
Somebody left a comment on the gorge blog. Apparently, the locals call the area "Paradise And Hell". I can fully understand why. The countryside here is stunningly beautiful.
Mind Your Step
The path was a mix of man-made track and natural rock.
Back To Reality
Looking back, I can see where I parked my car.
Underneath The Arch
There was the occasional evidence of dry-stone wall along the way. In the past, donkeys will have navigated this track, getting to and from what I image must have been water mills. Those mills will have ground lots of wheat into flour. All of the wheat and flour will have been transported up and down this narrow walkway.
The Teeth Of Angels
So yes, the locals call the area Paradise and Hell. I image the hell refers to the incredibly narrow gorge that claws its way up the middle of this picture. The images we saw in the Martiri Gorge blog must be nothing compared to what lurks down there, hidden beneath the tops of what must be fully grown trees.
Remember also, that this isn't in the Troodos. This is below Koili, and just off the B7. Continue downstream for a while and you run into Adonis Baths. This is local.
