Downstream
When I return, I might go downstream for a bit as well. To be honest though, it seemed to get more overgrown in that direction, and less gorge-like.

Luckily I was able to identify the point where I descended, and soon climbed back up again.

Recent Fire
There was a small fire here in the not-too-distant past. They were very lucky it went out so quickly. I imagine it would take a fire engine a fair bit of time to get here, so can only presume the wind changed and it burnt itself out.
Familiar Cliffs
Looking up, across the valley, we can see a ridge of cliffs. I've taken pictures from the top of those cliffs in the past, so it is funny seeing them from this angle.
Below the cliffs there is a track down to an area which is being used for a new olive orchard. You can't access the track from where we are though, thanks to the gorge. This was why we originally ended up here. We were expecting to be able to drive up there. Instead we had to retrace our steps through the field.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
