Mind Your Step
Following goat trails can be a lot of fun. Be wary of ones that head upwards though. They tend to disappear and leave you in a precarious position. This one was nice and flat though.
Distant Ruin
Once past the initial ridge, the area opens out a bit. The vegetation here is pretty unforgiving in places, and I was wearing shorts, so I stock to the trail on the edge of the cliff.
Don't Look Down
There is a nasty drop here if you are not careful, so either watch your step or wear long trousers and do a bit of bushwhacking.
Old Barn?
And here we are. There is not much of a clue as to the purpose of the building.
House or Cage?
Indeed, looking at the structure, it looks more like a dry stone wall has been constructed to form an animal pen. I can't see any cement between the rocks. Or perhaps it was a goatherd's shack, with some sort of flimsy roof that is no longer there? I have seen a similar ruin near the olive tree we mentioned earlier, and there is another at the top of the hill the road adjoining this outcrop is on.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
