Paphos Walkway June Update
They're renovating the walkway between Paphos Castle and Lighthouse Beach, and we keep getting asked how the work is progressing. So we will keep flying our drone over the route so you can get the latest news...
Lighthouse Beach Renovations

The first thing worth noting is that they are also renovating Lighthouse Beach itself. Well, the parking area, anyway. Somebody some posted some pictures on our Paphos Chat Facebook Group, if you want to see that. These were the exact words (via Louise Larkins):
Update on the works at Lighthouse beach.
They’re still resurfacing the car park. But also now revamping around the beach bar.
Diggers and banging throughout the morning. Beach bar still open and have moved some tables away from the works.
Apparently work to be completed around the beach bar end of July. The car park.. who knows.
Old City Wall

More hot news was that the mayor of Paphos - Phedon Phedonos - posted some pictures showing they had uncovered some of the old City Wall during the renovation work on the path. He included some pictures, so check out his Facebook page to see them. I tried locating them with the drone but didn't have any luck.
So I thought anyway. However, when I generated the link above I had another look at the pictures and was able work out where they were taken. Luckily I had filmed it without realising, so there is a screenshot on the next page.
Lovely Lighthouse

You can see more of the old City Wall in this shot. It runs in front of the lighthouse. To the left of the lighthouse is the Outdoor Theatre, which is not really visible in this shot. To the left of the picture is the Toumpallos area. If you look on the previous picture you can actually see it on the left. A lot of people overlook this part of the Archaeological Park, and that is a crying shame. To me, along with Saranta Colones, (40 Column Fortress) it is the best bit.
Towards Paphos

Anyway, to the job in hand. Let's inspect that walkway.
The Final Countdown

The good news is that the new surface has almost reached the beach.

Some of the money was allocated for maintenance and upkeep of the existing facilities. It looks like this maintenance is already underway, because the area between the castle and the walkway to Lighthouse Beach has been closed for maintenance. I flew the drone up to have a closer look...
