Paphos Museum March Update
Scrubs Up Well
That will all change once the museum is decked out. It is nice to see the original stonework preserved though.
The Town Hall
Walking round the perimeter we come to October 28 Square. With the Town Hall in front of us, and the Municipal Museum to the right, the Museum will really enhance what is already a very nice area.
I am not sure what the new building will be. Those pillars are intriguing though. So what does the press have to say about the project? This is a part of a report from In Cyprus last year:
The development, which will showcase the city’s rich history, is taking place within a sensitive area: the former Paphos Police Headquarters and, during British colonial rule, the province’s holding cells. These historic buildings are now being transformed.
The project encompasses the redevelopment of 18,000 square metres of outdoor space and the restoration and repurposing of a 950-square-metre listed building, with a timeline of 15 months for completion. A dedicated team of experts has prepared a detailed museological study to guide this process.
The design also aims to connect the urban landscape with the city’s history through a carefully curated walking route. It begins in the north, near the Armenian Genocide Memorial Park, and passes through a lush green space with above-ground and ground-level crossings.
As envisioned, visitors will arrive at an urban plaza to the north of the building, complete with seating areas and amenities. From there, they will enter the modern museum space, where they will embark on a journey through time, learning about Paphos’s history from 332 BC onwards through physical exhibits and digital explorations.
Men At Work
We could see a bit of the work being performed from the ground, but you get a better view from the air...
It's going to be fabulous.

Kennedy Square - Looking Good
Yesterday I popped down to the Old Town to see how it looked after the opening ceremony. I had noticed in the pictures from our guest blogger that Kennedy Square had had some new additions, and I wanted to see if they were a new permanent fixture. I was pleasantly surprised with what I found.Kennedy Square Renovations Update - September 2024
You may recall that the Old Police Station in Kennedy Square is being renovated. It will eventually become the Paphos Historical Documentation Centre. This sounds a bit dry but it refers to the Historical Past of Paphos, rather than piles of old documents. There will also be lovely gardens and walkways. It is now September and the project isn't due to be completed until mid next year, but we thought we would let the drone give you an idea as to how they are progressing...Good Pages To Visit
