Kennedy Square Renovations Update - September 2024
You may recall that the Old Police Station in Kennedy Square is being renovated. It will eventually become the Paphos Historical Documentation Centre. This sounds a bit dry but it refers to the Historical Past of Paphos, rather than piles of old documents. There will also be lovely gardens and walkways. It is now September and the project isn't due to be completed until mid next year, but we thought we would let the drone give you an idea as to how they are progressing...
The Old Police Station

This is the current scene: Kennedy Square is on the left, and the Old Police Station is on the right. The building itself is protected, and the Facade has to be kept intact.
Foundations

While they obviously took a break in August they are now back at work. You cannot see any activity in these shots, as they were taken fairly early on a Sunday morning. This also explains the emptiness of the roads.
Parking Still Available

It is worth noting that most of the car park is still open. You just need to approach from the direction of the Courts to gain easy access to it.
Walkway Coming Along

There is also a walkway that has been constructed linking the museum to the park commemorating the Armenian Massacre. Note that if you park in the rear area of the carpark you can access Kennedy Square via a path underneath the new walkway. You don't have to walk around the entire building site to get there.
School Donuts

While I was flying the drone I couldn't help but notice somebody had been donutting in the local school playground. Boys will be boys...
The Historical Documentation Centre is due to open next year, and it looks like it will be great when it is finished. We shall keep you updated as the project progresses.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
