Paphos Old Town in 2023 - Part 2
Back To The Centre

For the first part of the series, we are staying on the western side of the main road. This is purely for the sake of having a route which is relatively easy to follow.
In this shot, you can see that two of the bollards are bigger than the others. If you look you will also see tyre tracks behind them. In the early mornings, these bollards are lowered and it is possible to drive around the Old Town.
Keep Right

Follow the path up and keep to the right. Ignore the first left turn as that just goes back to Part 1.
Tourist Information

You will soon find yourself at the Tourist Information Centre. If you want to find out more about those tours I mentioned, this would be a good place to ask. Turning left here takes you back to the Green Living Wall. We shall instead turn right, but first, we will have a look straight ahead...
New Build

For ages this little alcove was a messy building site. It has now been given the TLC it deserved, and the result is fantastic. This is Rum and Jam and it is one of the cocktail bars that help bring the Old Town alive in the evening.
Cementography

On the wall next to the Cocktail Bar you will see an interesting mural. This is the fifth piece in the Cementography trail that runs through Old Town. Together they relate the Cypriot Folk Tale of Arodafnousa.
The jealous queen tells her victim Arodafnousa that it is useless to scream for help: "You can shout once, or shout twice, as often as you like, the king is too far away to come and save you."

Instead we will be focusing on new additions and places we missed last year. Even so, we took nearly 100 pictures for this blog, so we have split it in two. eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
