The Letymbou Tavern
Village taverns are one of Cyprus' hidden jewels. So when somebody on our chat group was asking for the best ribs in Paphos, we immediately responded with Letymbou Tavern. But then it hit us. We hadn't been there since before Lockdown. We couldn't recommend a place we hadn't eaten in for that long. So with that in mind, we set off for Sunday Lunch. I was honour bound to have the ribs to check they were still my favourite.
This Must Be The Place
We've mentioned this place in a number of blogs in the past, in passing. This time, let's go inside and have something to eat.
If you don't know where Letymbou is, look at the directory entry. There is a map. Basically, you take the B7 from Paphos to Polis and turn right at the top of the hill.
Parking In The Rear
To the left of the main entrance is a drive leading to a fairly large carpark at the back. When Letymbou Tavern gets busy, this carpark can get fairly rammed. So when you park, even if it is empty, park in reverse, so you can leave easily without having to do any awkward manoeuvres.
Front Dining area
We arrived at 12:30, which is early by Cypriot standards. We had booked in advance, and if you can, it is wise to do this whenever you eat out at the moment. COVID has meant restaurants have less seating available so a booking can save disappointment.
Internal Decor
The inside is fairly typical for a traditional Cypriot tavern. You will often see those guitar-like instruments (Bouzouki) adorning the walls.
Bar Area
Following the regulations, the staff are all masked up, but the punters don't have to be. After all, eating with a mask would be a comical affair.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
