As you ascend the hill, the murals get more elaborate. There is also more text, which I am not going to attempt to translate. If anybody knows what it says, I will be happy to add the translations.

Anerada?

Hmm, there is a Greek holiday firm called Anerada. On their website, they say "Our name comes from the Greek word 'neraida' which means Fairy and particular the fairy of the forest".

In Cyprus, there are numerous establishments with "Anerada" in the name. But other than the reference to the fairy, I couldn't find anything else that was relevent. Perhaps it is just somebody's name?

This was on the opposite side of the road to the murals, as I walked up. I didn't investigate, as I will be doing another blog on Stroumpi on a later date. However, I could see that inside were stacks of old restaurant chairs and tables. So at one point, was this either a tavern, or an extension to the Armour Tavern across the road?

The Final Mural

So there you have it. If you are driving along the B7 through Stroumpi, you should at least slow down to have a look at the murals. If nothing else, it will prepare you for the speed bumps. Better yet, pull over into one of the laybys, and give them a proper inspection.

The Geroskipou Mural

When we went looking for the new Geroskipou Sculpture Park, we also wanted to take in the Old Camp, as we had seen it previously in passing, and thought it deserved a closer look. As luck would have it, they were right next to each other. However, what we didn't expect to find was a large mural that had appeared, on one of the walls of the camp. As a result, this article is somewhat larger than we originally anticipated, so sit back and enjoy the art...
