A Hot Day

As you can see from the lack of people sitting in the sun, it was very warm today. Doubtless those seats will be used when the acts begin, but for now, people are hiding in the shadows.

Getting Crowded

So we are half way around the festival, and have reached the stage. Turning back, you can see how many people there are here now.

Fruit Preserves

These fruits are delicious, though incredibly sweet. Often in taverns you will get presented with slices of similar fruits as a free pudding. Cypriot taverns don't do puds like you get in other countries. You seem to get presented with a free pud if you have had a proper main course. We were in one tavern eating our free pud, and the table next to us asked us how we ordered the pud. We just said that they came free, but their table had only ordered starters and no mains, so they weren't allowed free puds. We felt strangely proud of our free puds after that.

Return of the Funny Sausages

Ok, so what are these then? They were quite widespread throughout the festival, though I don't remember seeing them anywhere else. It turns out they are a Cypriot sweet called Shoushouko. Basically, they consist of almonds or walnuts coated in boiled grape juice. I tried one but it wasn't my cup of tea I'm afraid.

Homemade Jam?

this looks like the Cypriot Equivalent of the local Women's Institute Stall, though I could be wrong.
