The Twelve Churches of Polemi
Across The Road

However, across the road from the tavern there was this memorial. Perhaps the anonymous map marker was for this?

Oops

It is worth pointing out that this blog is not written from the perspective of somebody who has a detailed knowledge of the Churches of Polemi. I may well make mistakes here, and I welcome any corrections of clarifications. This shot is a classic example. I was looking for Ayios Mamas. and I found some old rocks that could have been its remains. I took rather a lot of pictures here, but it was only when I was processing them later that I realised I had taken a wrong turn, and that this was something completely different.
The Water Tower

Instead, to find where Ayios Mamas might be, I had to head to the Water Tower. According to the map, it was by that.
Shrine

There was a fairly modern house next to the water tower, where the church should be on the map. We noticed there was a shrine in the back garden. Perhaps that had been put there as a little monument to the old church?
Church Remains?

On the other side of the tower, there was this rubble. Some of the rocks on it looked quite old, so was this the exact site, or was this just debris left over from the house build?
