Petratis Gorge - Part 1
Long Way Down
I pretty much knew I was not going to get down here, but I had a look round anyway.

Climbing Tool
I spotted this in one of the rocks by the cliff. Presumably it is used by climbers. They hook a carabiner to it and down they go. I don't know the correct to for one. The closest I could find on Google was "Piton". Mind you, I didn't know what a carabiner was either until I looked it up. But anyway, climbers do use this gorge. If you google "Petratis Gorge" a lot of the information will be from climbing sites. They say that there are good locations on either side of the gorge, but crossing from one side to the other at the bottom is difficult because it is so overgrown.
Walk This Way
Judging by the faint path along the top of the ridge, the top of the gorge did get at least some visitors.
Back Towards The Bridge
I followed the top of the gorge back round towards the bridge. I was hoping to find an overlooked track leading down, but no such luck.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
