Paphos Kataklysmos Festivities - 2024
Moorings

As I approached the Harbour, the crowd was beginning to pick up.
If you must know, we had just had a long flight from Bangkok to Heathrow, that had involved multiple delays and double booking fiascos. By the time the plane finally took off, most people had drunk their duty-free allowance of Mekong Whiskey, and the flight descended into anarchy. It was the only flight I have ever been on that had a full-blown food fight. It was glorious chaos, but it didn't make me very fond of Garuda, who were the Airline. Weird really, because I met the girl on the flight so you would think I would be grateful.
And no, she did not turn out to be Alex, my lovely wife. Our story is far more romantic than that, but not for these pages.

Eating Area

Anyway, the Sea Front is laid out rather sensibly. Along the main Strip you have the stalls and shops. Between the pedestrianised bit and the Harbour they have the majority of the food outlets. There is also a communal eating area provided, which you can see in this shot. Presumably that helps keep the rubbish fairly localised.
Food Stalls

There were a variety of foodstuffs on offer.
Towards The Harbour

Occasionally I would stand on one of the round seats in order to take some pictures. This was the view towards the Harbour.

And this was looking back towards the Sea Front. Incidentally, the view here is lovely every night. The reflections into the water don't need a carnival. So if you come here in July, you will still get some amazing scenes.

Paphos Sea Front and Harbour
I've made a number of drone films recently of the Sea Front and Paphos Harbour. While I am filming, I also take the occasional picture, so thought it would be nice to show you some of them and add some information about how the various renovation works are progressing.
Paphos Kataklysmos Celebrations
Kataklysmos is a big deal in Cyprus. The whole island celebrates with water festivals, traditional events and numerous other activities. Traditionally the biggest celebrations occur in Larnaca, though every town and city does their bit. Paphos is having its own celebrations, and the Sea Front is teaming with stalls selling allsorts. Over the next few days there are also performances to be enjoyed at Paphos Castle. We went down to the Sea Front to join in the fun.Good Pages To Visit

We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia.
