Problem...

This is where I hit my second major hurdle. Up ahead I could clearly see a fence blocking the route.

Well, it is a case of bad news and good news. The bad news is that there is no route to the Kissonerga Coast Path that avoids the main road. The good news is that there soon will be. Once they have finished this bridge you will be able to access Kissonerga Coast Path from Vardas Bay. Not now though.

To my right, I could see the path that wasn't fenced off led up to the main coast road. I would have to go there, for the sake of completeness. In order to make up for my disappointment though, I took a nice closeup of some vegetation.

The Beginning And End

So, for the time being, this is as far as you can get if you follow the coast path from Paphos and don't mind clambouring over a few rocks.

Is it worth the trek? I certainly had fun doing it, at least until my allergic reaction kicked in. I assumed first of all that I had touched something in the banana plantation. However, I think I saw a few fig trees at the end (on Part 2 of the film), and if I brushed past them that could well have triggered it. Soon after we moved to Cyprus, I cut down a fig tree in our back garden. I removed lots of leaves from sticks, to create garden canes. After a week of this, my body decided it had had enough of figs, and I came out with lots of tiny blisters all over the place. It was really weird, but I went to a chemist and they gave me some pills. The blisters soon went away, but ever since then I have had a bad reaction to figs.

Whatever the case, I have now added antihistamines to things I will always have with me when I go exploring.

I do hope they finish the bridge soon, and sort out a route through the banana plantation. If they do that, and erect an eel-friendly bridge at Sandy Beach, then it will be possible to walk all the way from Geroskipou Beach to Sea You Beach Bar. That would be fantastic!
