Paphos Coast Path - Part 8 - The Elysium to Venus Beach
Relax...

This person has the right idea. Not only are they taking a breather in the shade, but they also have a nice broad hat. That or a sun umbrella can make your walk a lot more enjoyable. I am a complete slaphead, so a hat is essential to me, unless I want my bonce to fry. But I am forever amazed at the sight of sunburnt tourists wondering around with absolutely zero protection from the rays.

Approaching Chapel

The Coast Path continues towards Chloraka. Who knows, one day it might be possible to walk all the way to Coral Bay on a solid path like this? That's assuming the marina doesn't get built first...
The New Chapel

The chapel is an interesting design, and will presumably be used for weddings. The entrance is in the gap in the centre of the wall you can see here. I had to walk around the entire building before I found it. It was locked so I couldn't see what it was like inside.
Mystery Path

To the left of the chapel there is a faint path leading through the rocky shoreline. When they were renovating the area you had to go this way in order to continue your walk to Chloraka. This is no longer the case. However, the path also takes you to a little hidden bay. Or at least it used to, a few years ago when we were here on holiday.
Back To Nature

Alas, there is no easy access to the little beach any more. You can see the remains of the steps in the picture. Oh well. Venus Beach is just a stone's throw away.
Anyway, that pretty much concludes our trip along the Coast Path. You can continue from Venus Beach all the way to Sandy Bay in Lempa. We recently covered that walk, and you can see the first part here:
The Chloraka portion can be found here:
So, I wont be doing the Chloraka portion in this series. It hasn't changed since the last time I did it, and it is bloody hot! Instead, I shall jump to Sanday Bay and see if it is realistically possible to walk from there to the Kissonerga Coast Path without resorting to the main coast road. Stay tuned for that!

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
