Paphos Coast Path - Part 8 - The Elysium to Venus Beach
In part 8 of our trip along Paphos Coast Path, we walk from the Elysium Hotel past Tomb of the Kings to Venus Beach. We also take a peak at the new chapel just past it.
Elysium Jetty

If you recall from our previous chapter, I had intended to do the walk from Lighthouse to Venus Beach in one hit. However, it was longer than I thought, so I split it in two. The Elysium is a good place to take a break, even if it is only for five minutes. If you seriously want to spoil yourself though, you will be hard-pressed to find a nicer resort in Paphos.
Familiar Territory

By now you should be familiar with this sort of scene. The shaded Seats provide useful comfort for overheated walkers, and there are convenient bins where they can place any empty water bottles. I wonder who empties them? I know who cleans up the Sea Front Area, as I have seen them doing so, both at dawn and dusk. I imagine whoever is in charge of these must have some sort of buggy though.
Natural Shade

There were also a few small trees planted, presumably to provide more shade. There weren't as much as the section between the Harbour and Lighthouse Beach though. Perhaps they have concentrated the planting on the busier portions of the route. That would make sense if you had a limited budget.
Failed Tomb?

The path here walks around the perimeter of Tomb of the Kings. I wonder if these workings were an attempt at constructing another tomb? You might think that it would be a bit close to the sea, but the water level was lower in the past. Indeed, there are ruins of an ancient settlement in the sea somewhere along the coast near Avakas Gorge.

And as usual, there is a film of this chapter too. You can view it using the link below. I repeat it at the end of the article too.
