Paphos Coast Path - Part 4 - From SODAP To The Sea Front
Portable Platform
In winter that floating jetty is removed and presumably placed in storage somewhere. I wonder where it goes?
Alykes Beach
This is the third blue flag winner on today's section, believe it or not. Alykes (pronounced AleyeKEY) Beach has the coveted coloured flag, and the lifeguard station and information sign to prove it. It seems to incude the walkway from here to the Municipal Baths in its territory too. Certainly the sunbeds outside Annabelle Hotel, which we shall see in a minute, are labelled as such. The beach you see in this photo is actually next to The Almyra Hotel though.
No Dogs
It is worth noting that dogs are not allowed on at least this section of the Coastal Path. I know that up in Chloraka they are permitted, provided they are on a lead. But here, it is a complete no-no.
Swimmers Galore
Curiously enough, most visitors to the beach tend to ignore that sandy bit and head for the rocky jetty a bit further along. This is a good place for snorkelling by the way. We saw a turtle here a few years ago, and it was fantastic swimming nearby. If you are lucky enough to see one yourself, please don't attempt to feed it or touch it. Just watch from a discrete distance, and appreciate its beauty.
Annabelle Sunbeds
These sunbeds in front of the Annabelle Hotel can be used by anybody, for a small (€2.50) fee. You can also hire a towel and a little safe.
