Old Paphos in 2021 Part 1

New Routes
We've taken the next turning left off the main road, and are headed back into Old Paphos. We've just passed the carpark with the two murals on our left. On our right there is a little path leading to the next street. You can see some tables and chairs have appeared here too.
Cosmos
Continuning down the road, we are going to come to another right turn soon. As you can see, the trees that were planted have all grown up quite nicely.

We are now at the top end of Lantern Lane, looking down to where we were standing a while ago.
Turn Right Here
We are going up here. Ibrahim's Khan is to the left of this shot. We will go there soon enough, but there is another little bit of Old Paphos we have to see first.
Ibrahim's Entrance
Incidentally, if you are wondering why you have never heard of "Ibrahim" before "Ibrahim's Khan", well, you probably have. It is just a slightly different translation of the Biblical character Abraham. And given the relative antiquities of the two languages, who are we to say that "Abraham" is right?
Anyway, lets go take a look at that mural.

A Last Look At The Old Old Paphos
Old Paphos is undergoing a transformation. Not only that, but in a few days time, Paphos 2017 will officially get underway. So we thought we would take a last stroll and a few snaps of the area before the transformation is complete.
New Old Paphos
It's been a few months since we last reported on the progress of the Old Paphos Regeneration Scheme.I had to visit the main Cyta Shop recently, and as I had time to kill I decided to take my camera for a stroll, to see how things were progressing. Autumn was in the air and the skies were fairly grey. There was even some rain at some point. However, the pictures will still hopefully show what a wonderful place Old Town Paphos is becoming.
Old Paphos Revisited

We start in Kennedy Square and head via a roundabout route to the indoor market, before concluding the walk at Ibrahim's Khan. It is a modern, Cypriot art form, that was celebrated in the dying days of Paphos 2017 by the placement of eight murals in and around Paphos Old Town. You may well have seen some of them on your travels, and some have featured in previous blogs. Went for a wander around Old Pafos yesterday. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy, so we didn't do much recording. It was nice to see the Mayor helping out with the sprucing up, and the area is looking seriously nice now.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
