Moundiko Nature Trail - Part 1
Beginning and End

We are now at the start of the main section of the walk. This is a loop that begins here on the right-hand track, and returns from the left.
Work In Progress

What a difference a few days make! It took me two visits to take the pictures for this article. I took the first set of pictures while I was driving past in the car. I had the drone with me so also made the footage you will see soon. I wanted to come back on foot to do the walk properly but unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse. I was unable to visit for a couple of weeks. When the weather finally did improve I set off here only to find that there was a half-marathon of something similar running along part of the route. As I want to show you how remote and beautiful the countryside here is, I didn't think lots of sweaty joggers would blend in very well, so I went somewhere else instead (Theletra, if you are that interested).
Anyway, I took this picture on the first visit. When I finally got back here again, the sign had been erected properly. So this walk is a work in progress. This might also explain the problems I had later on...
Keep Right

I was tempted to do the walk in reverse, as I know where the right-hand track goes already, having driven it on a number of occasions. However, I resolved to stick to the trail. The signs would make more sense then too.
View From The Top

The second time I visited for my pictures, I drove to the top of the plateau and parked there. This was the view from the car, looking across the Avakas Gorge area towards Lara Bay.

The Akamas is home to an abundance of wildflowers, from orchids to wild tulips. Near Arodes, there is a certain field set aside for a small yet very beautiful flower. Come and say hello to the Akamas Narcissus.
Erosion
A few weeks ago, I read reports that some ancient human remains had turned up in a remote church near Kathikas. I presume the remains were placed by a tomb robber, but to be honest, the key phrase that stuck in my head was "remote church". After several attempts, the route to the location was found, and we paid it a visit.Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
