Water Levels

On the 13th June, the Kouris Reservoir was 93.5% full, whereas on the 21st June it was 94.9% full. So in 8 days it has filled up by 1.4%!

For the middle of June, this is amazing. Who knows, will it overflow yet?

Finally, we have reached the far side of the reservoir. You can see the dam in the distance. But what's that on the spire?

There you have it. Kouris Dam is still filling up! Who would have thought it? It's been full before though, so we shouldn't get complacent.

It's lovely seeing all the reservoirs full again. It is not all plain sailing mind, I have lost a few decent shortcuts to the rising water.

One thing lacking in Paphos is a desalination plant. The perfect time to build one is when we don't actually need it. We have a few years leeway now, so we should make the most of it and get building before necessity drives the price up.

The Abandoned Rancho Appaloosa

I feel like apologising for the size of this blog, as it contains over 70 photos. However, this is a lovely place if you like urban exploring, and I felt that if I cut down the picture count I couldn't do it justice. I appreciate that it might not be for everybody though, so the first page contains spoiler photos of what to expect. If you find them interesting, then continue to the main blog!

Return to The Abandoned Ranch

The other day we saw an article about a mysterious church that had appeared in the Kouris Reservoir because of the low water level. When we got there it turned out to be a case of bad journalism. However, as we were in the area, we decided to revisit the abandoned Rancho Appaloosa, to see how much it had changed since we first found the place, in 2016.

Asprokremmos Dam Revisited

The Asprokremmos Dam first started to overflow over a week ago. We filmed it at the time, but vowed to return once it had got into full swing...
