Geroskipou Shrine Caves Revisited
We recently went down to Geroskipou Shrine Caves to report on the Neapolis which was being built in the area. While we were there we revisited some old haunts and made some new discoveries.
Geroskipou Treasures
We begin our adventure high above the fields of Geroskipou, looking towards the ridge of cliffs which form a natural boundary between town and country, for now at least. I took this shot because it shows three interesting features of the area. In the distance, you can see Millo's Tower. In front of that, at the top of the cliff, is a rather large statue of Aphrodite. Finally in the foreground, is a mysterious cave.
Actually, it's not that mysterious in reality. I visited it a few years ago and there was nothing particularly interesting about it. But if you didn't know that...
Shrine Caves Trail
From that viewpoint we turned left towards the shrine caves themselves. There is a very nice linear walk here.
The Shrine Caves
And here are the Shrine Caves. Well, some of them anyway. For more information, check out the Geroskipou Shrine Caves film I recorded a few years ago.
Interesting
The drone also highlighted this interesting relic of a building on the other side of the Shrine Caves. But enough aerial shots. Let's go and take a look on foot.
Park Here
At the moment, if you want to visit the Shrine Cave Area, you need to find this staircase. Don't worry, the next picture is a map showing you where it is.

Geroskipou Neapolis Is Coming
Way back in 2019 we reported on an area of Geroskipou which was going to be the site of a new Business DIstrict called the Neapolis. At the time we were interested in a necropolis that was hidden in the woods there. Now, in 2025 they appear to have started construction, so we took the drone down to see what was happening.St George's Church and Shrine Caves
Near the shops on the Paphos / Geroskipou border, is a little track that runs below a cliff through some farmland. A sign indicates that there is a church down there, so one day I thought I would investigate. Sure enough, there was a little church, but there was so much more besides...Good Pages To Visit
