Cyprus In Pictures - February 2023
St George's Chapel

I was pleasantly surprised with how popular this picture was. The Seafront pictures always get the most likes, but this one wasn't too far behind. Lots of people have been married here. A while ago we did a virtual tour of the inside of St George's Chapel, Chloraka so if you want a closer look, follow the link.

That Tower

The new tower in Paphos is probably the most contentious topic of conversation at the moment. It is worthwhile laying out some facts though. The planning laws changed some time ago, to allow for larger buildings to be built. So talk of brown envelopes is both incorrect and downright rude. You may not like the building but to insist that it was only built because of backhanders is downright insulting. I haven't read the relevent legislation. I wouldn't understand it as my Greek is nowhere near capable of getting to grips with anything like that. I imagine that people throwing around accusations haven't read the legislation either. So they are in no position to criticise it.
Now, just become a building is legal, doesn't mean it isn't a monstrous carnbunkle, but I will reserve my judgement on that until the building is finished.
And if that building gets you angry, wait until they build the one next to it...
Above Neon Mall

A more popular renovation occured on the other side of town. The Old Paphos Mall was brought back to life, and now the Neon Mall awaits your custom. Provided you want DIY and home goods, or affordable clothing. Still to come is a Lidl, a Sports Shop and the all important Coffee Shop, without which no Cypriot Shopping Area can be complete.
The Sea Front Again

Baracas Lounge From The Sea

If you have got really good eyes you might be able to pick out that big heart again in this picture. More visible is the huge chair. They are doing some extensive reef-building exercises in the area at the moment.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
