Elia has less water to cope with than Kelefos. Between the two bridges, several other rivers join the Diarizos to make it much larger.

Downstream

If you were a hardcore poohsticker you could start here and finish at Kelefos. Now there's a challenge...

Upstream

There is also a film of the three bridges which is worth watching. In addition there will be 360 panoramas etc, because let's face it, scenes like this don't happen that often in Cyprus.

Bridge Shield

Sorry for the poor quality of this shot, but it is actually a still from the film. I hadn't noticed this shield on Elia Bridge before now. None of the other two bridges have one, so in this respect at least, Elia is special.

Anyway, let's go to Kelefos!

Water Department Car

When we got to Kelefos, we could see the road to the bridge had been closed, so we parked by this car and walked down. I initially assumed that WDDTAY was some media company, but it is in fact the water department. For some reason, they were checking out the bridge.

Kelefos Bridge

Kelefos Bridge is probably the most well-known of all the Venetian Bridges in Cyprus, for good reasons. It features on the UK TV holiday adverts for Cyprus, showing a couple cycling over it on an afternoon ride. In reality, you won't find any cyclists here, but you will find a bridge full of charm, and surrounding countryside to match...

Elia Bridge

Like its more famous neighbour, Elia Bridge spans the Diarizos River in the south western corner of Paphos Forest. Along with Roudia and Kelefos, it forms the Venetian Bridges Nature Trail, which is a lovely route, even if you do opt to drive, rather than hike it's distance. Let's take a quick peek...
