The Abandoned Hospital at the Amiantos Asbestos Mine
Old Machinery Lurks Within

It's probably a good job we couldn't get in though, otherwise I would have bored the pants off you with about another 100 shots of machinery.

The Hospital

From across the valley you can see the hospital in all it's glory. Interestingly, you can also see some other buildings behind it. I know that the nearest one was an abandoned shop or lodge (I forget which) but up until now I hadn't noticed the others. Hmmmm. More to explore?
More Ruins

When we realised the mine was out of bounds, we had a look around in the safe area, before heading to the nature park. These were consolation ruins, if you like.
Old Church

There was even an old church, presumably abandoned. I was too hot to go and check it out though.
The Nature Park

We finished up at a viewpoint near here, a perfect spot for a picnic.
You can find out more information on the rejuvenation project on their website. Slowly, the area is being rehabilitated, and it is a lovely, if somewhat quirky, day out.

If you have ever been to Aphrodite Water Park in Geroskipou, you may well have noticed the ruined buildings next to it. The first time I found them for myself, I assumed, wrongly, that they were the ruins of an old prison. They are in fact, all that remains of a farm that has been there for 100s of years.
The Abandoned Rancho Appaloosa
I feel like apologising for the size of this blog, as it contains over 70 photos. However, this is a lovely place if you like urban exploring, and I felt that if I cut down the picture count I couldn't do it justice. I appreciate that it might not be for everybody though, so the first page contains spoiler photos of what to expect. If you find them interesting, then continue to the main blog!Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
