2018 In Pictures
Chantara Falls
In July we visited our favourite water falls. Tradition dictates that when we do so, I have to do some bushwhacking with our daughter, and explore upstream of the beautiful falls. This time, I took some pictures. I also made a 360 virtual tour of the area. You can view this on one of the other sites we launched in 2018: Cyprus Panoramas.
Faleia
Faleia is an abandoned village between Agios Fotios and Letymbou. It doesn't want to stay abandoned though, and I think hunters and farmers are breathing some life into it.
Chrysochou Cemetery
We occasionally blog about villages in Cyprus. Eventually we will cover all of them, but we aren't in a hurry and are going nowhere. When we visited Chrsyochou, we couldn't help but notice the odd stones in the wasteland beside the main B7 road. So we investigated them, as they had their own tale to tell...
Lara Bay
At the end of July we decided we wanted to visit the turtles at Lara Bay. We knew nothing about the process, so my wife and I thought it best to do a reccie first. As luck would have it, we arrived just as the wardens were releasing some of the babies into the wild. Have to say, I loved seeing this, we were so lucky.
Limni Mine
In August we visited the old mine at Limni. I find these places fascinating, and they have their own kind of beauty. Apparently this is going to be converted to a golf resort at some point in the future, so enjoy it while you can. If the blog inspires you to visit you might want to wait a few months though. The trails are quite treacherous at the moment...
