2018 In Pictures
Ayia Napa
August also saw us having it large in Ayia Napa. Most of the pictures I took here were posted on our Cyprus Panoramas site, as they don't really come under the remit of Paphos. However, I did do this blog summarising some of the lovely places we visited. Looking forward to going back next summer.
Souskiou Cemetery
Archaeology abounds in Cyprus. The mosaics are well worth your time, as are Tomb of the Kings etc. However, occasionally it is nice to get out and experience some archaeology in the wild. There are many places listed in numerous blogs we have visited, but this one was rather special, as it was the site of an old dig in a gorgeous location. Philistine that I am though, I was most impressed with this little wasps nest which as far as I am concerned, tells us that Mother Nature loves Heavy Metal.
A Tale of Two Dog Beaches
Having been blown away by the Paralimni Dog Beach, I thought I would compare it to the dog beaches in Paphos. Paphos did not come out well...
Paphos Forest Mine
This is another favourite location of mine. It is just a shame that it is so difficult to get to. In September we revisited the old mine, having first visited it in 2017. Unfortunately, in the intervening months, they had blocked the road off. They had also done a good job of blocking off all the side roads too. So if you want to visit, prepare for a bit of a hike too.
Kissonerga Mosfilia
I was surprised how popular this blog was. We only popped in to see the settlement on the off-chance, as we were passing. I think it is because it is so local, and yet quite remote. People like reading about these hidden treasures on their doorsteps.
