Ayia Napa Is Gearing Up!

More Jellyfish

As we mentioned before, we were going to have a snorkel here but we found more jellyfish in the water, and as Alex had already been stung we got out fairly quickly.

Snorkel Heaven

On a jellyfish-free day it would be great fun snorkelling here. I did do some underwater filming and I may have enough vaguely interesting material to cobble together a little film. However, we arrived earlier in the year than our last visit, which I also filmed. So there were less fish to see, and those we saw were more juvenile.

Cyprus Is Waiting For You!

Hopefully by now you will see that there are plenty of reasons to come for a holiday in Cyprus this year, if you are allowed. We haven't shown you anything like all the beaches. Green Bay, for instance, is fabulous. There are too many to mention in one blog without going on for 30 pages.

And social distancing isn't too intrusive. Nobody is forcing you to wear a mask all the time. If you like a crush though, wait until next year.

And Finally...

The final beach we shall look at is our favourite. It is great for snorkelling and, in previous years, it has been a haven away from the tourist crowds. I don't know what the name is, but it is the next one along from the very nice dog beach. During the week, the beach was very quiet, and what's more, it is completely jellyfish free.

Weekend Rush

This was the same beach during the weekend. It wasn't as crowded as it was last year, however, we did make an interesting observation. Normally, the locals flock to beaches like this because they can sunbathe in peace. With the absence of tourists, there were still weekend queues of traffic for the main beaches, like Fig Tree. Clearly the locals are taking the opportunity to avail themselves of the central areas. Fair play to them for that.

So, if you are planning a trip to the eastern side of the island, and was wondering what to expect, I can assure you that the beaches are open, and that social distancing is being observed. Not all restaurants will necessarily be open, but you will not go hungry.
