Limni Mine has a lot of history associated with it, and a legacy that includes the ever-popular Limni Pier.
It is amazing to think that the flat area you see in the picture used to be a bloody big hole. It has been filled in again, which must have been a fairly monumental task.
To get to this location you have to be prepared for a bit of a hike. The area is closed to vehicles, unless you are lucky enough to have a key to the gate. On foot it is a gorgeous walk however, especially if you like looking at unusual rocks and minerals. Just remember to take plenty of drinks with you, as you definitely won't find any kiosks out here, and not even Rambo would bother to bring an ice-cream van this far off the beaten track.
As we mentioned in the clue, there are plans to turn this area into a golfing resort. So this view may not be around for much longer. Who knows? Things take time to happen in Cyprus, so this desolate yet beautiful landscape might be around for some time to come yet.
