Evretou View
A lofty view of one of our favourite reservoirs. It has it's own abandoned village, and is near a Venetian Bridge.
Here I Am:
This shot was taken from the top of a water tower that overlooks the Evretou Reservoir. At the moment, unusually, the reservoir is full. There is normally a lot less water than this.
The village of Evretou lies in the distance. You cannot access it by road when the reservoir is full, but when there is less water it makes for an interesting if bumpy drive.
Beyond the village, and further up the valley, you come to Skarfos Bridge. From there you can drive in the direction of either Simou or Lysos. If you are off-roading you can even head up the valley to Sarama and Anadhiou. Be warned though, that that route can be treacherous in winter time.
To get to this water tower, you should drive along the B7 until you come to the Simou turning. Take that, and go up the hill until you see the sign for Evretou Dam. Follow that sign round a sharp bend, before it splits in two. Take the left hand bend and continue up there. You will go along the rim of the reservoir (4x4 highly advised) until you get to the tower. Enjoy the view!

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
