Routhouni Bridge
Behind The Bridge
The nostril photo came from the blog about the Eledio Quartz Mine. If you have taken a look at that you will see it shows lots of gypsum in the area. As a result of this, the streams have a rather dramatic effect on the landscape. We shall see more of this soon, but first we shall take a closer look at the bridge.
Rear View
The area around the bridge is quite overgrown. It was however possible to climb above it to get a decent view of the arch. I could have climbed down but I had no real desire to. Snakes are active at the moment, and they like riverbeds, even the dried-up variety. So I figured a view from here would suffice.
The Top
I wonder how many people have crossed this bridge over the years?
One Final Bridge Shot
If you search online you can see a picture of the bridge taken in winter. When the waters flow, there is a fair old river running underneath here.
Downstream
On the other side of the track is that pipe we mentioned. You can just see the top of it here. The water comes through that into a narrow gorge. I've always been a fan of exploring remote gorges that are away from the tourist routes. I'm not sure what I expect to find in them, but there is something mysterious about them that appeals to me. So we shall explore this one, if we can.
