Polemi Countryside Fire Recovery
Last year Polemi and surrounding villages were ravaged when a fire ripped through the Countryside. Over the weekend I took the drone out to see how nature was repairing itself.
Vineyards
We are fortunate where we live in Polemi, because we are surrounded by vineyards. One thing the fires of last June clearly demonstrated was that vineyards make very effective fire breaks. You will see this more clearly when we come to the drone pictures. First though, let's go for a little wander up to the Tulip Fields.
Green And Pleasant Land
Spring is a great time to be in Cyprus. The wild flowers are beginning to bloom and everywhere looks green. A far cry from the scorched golden-brown of the summer months.
Blossom
The almond blossom started early this year, but there is still a lot of it around. Weatherwise, we have had very little rain, and are in for a challenging summer if March and April don't get much. But as there is nothing I can do about it, I don't let it worry me.
Zoom
I normally leave the arty closeups to Alex, but I thought you might appreciate one of the blossom.
Hedge Inspector
I was joined on my brief stroll by Minxie, one of our five cats. She is a real Daddy's Girl and has taken to sitting on the arm of our sofa in the evenings so that I can easily scratch behind her ears. So naturally she followed me up the lane to the tulip field.
