Paphos Reservoir Update - April, 2026
Kannaviou Dam
The overflow is hidden on other end of the dam.
It's a shame I can't fly the drone at the moment as it looks spectacular from the air. This will have to do for now.
And Finally...
Last but not least we have the Mavrokolympos Reservoir. This is a special case, as last year it had to be emptied in order to be repaired.
Yada
It is now over 90% full, which is great news for the local farmers. This reservoir is only used by them. It is not used by humans.
Parting Shot
Upstream you will have Adonis Baths and the hills around Koili and Stroumbi. I wonder what will happen to the water if the reservoir overflows. It will naturally flow to the sea, but there is a desalination plant there now. Will they be able to use the overflow? I have no idea.
It is great to see the reservoirs looking a bit healthier now, but there is no room for complacency. Sensible water consumption and waste reduction is the way forwards. But it is nice to be out of the danger zone, at least for the time being.
