Goat Farm

When you finally reach the top you find yourself on a very peaceful plateau (outside of the hunting season, anyway). There is a ramshackle goat farm here too.

I love the scenery up here. It's like your in your own little world.

Down In The Valley

Driving onwards, we descend once more. The road here can be a little tricky after rain, but it is currently in very good nick.

Avakas Gorge Hike Junction

The two hikers we saw will most likely have come up from the gorge here. I've never tried doing it in reverse. I wonder if it would be easier or harder? Normally I find it easier going upstream, as you are less likely to get yourself in a position you can't get out of. That wouldn't really apply here though, as the route is well known. However, we do occasionally get reports of people having to be rescued from here. So as I said, treat the route with respect.

Ineia Junction

If you take the left fork here it follows a nature trail. You can also drive across the valley and see the pig farm we have featured in numerous blogs. There is also a rabbit farm up there too, believe it or not! Meanwhile, on the right a bumpy track will take you down to "Snake Canyon". This is a beautiful place to explore, but watch out for adders near the riverbed. On this trip though, we stay on the main track up the hill.

The Akamas By Car

Nothing beats exploring the Akamas by car. A decent 4x4 can take you to places you would never normally find on foot, and the aircon can be a real life-saver. Akamas Narcissus

The Akamas is home to an abundance of wildflowers, from orchids to wild tulips. Near Arodes, there is a certain field set aside for a small yet very beautiful flower. Come and say hello to the Akamas Narcissus.

Pano Arodes

Pano Arodes is one of the gateways to the Akamas. It is a charming village between Kathikas and Droushia. We will be featuring it in our next eBook, so recently visited it to do some research. Naturally enough, we took lots of pictures while we were there...
