Evretou Views
Evretou is an abandoned village on the banks of the Evretou Reservoir. When conditions are right, you can get some lovely reflection shots of the ruins in the calm waters. It is definitely worth taking a detour to have a look. Just be careful where you drive!
Bird's Eye View
Thie is what Evretou Reservoir looks like from the direction of the Akamas. At first glances you could forgiven for thinking that there were in fact two lakes, but the middle section is blocked by a ridge which has a handy parking area.
A Handy Parking Area
And there it is. You can just see my car to the right of the water tower. On the far left of the lake there is a straight bit. That is the dam itself. The overflow isn't next to it though. It is closer to us. This is only relevent if you want to see the water overflow, which it does occasionally, but not that often. I think I've seen it twice in the last seven years.
Evretou Overflow
Here you can see the dam in the centre, with the overflow to the left. It is that green strip coming down towards the water.
Hidden Gorge
This is the view towards the Akamas. What you can't really see from here, and indeed nearly anywhere else in fact, is a gorge that runs down between Akourdaleia and Kritou Tera. It is nigh on impossible to explore and I have only seen bits of it after walking down dirt tracks and flying a drone. If you want to get a better look at it, take a look at our film of Akourdaleia Gorge.
Evretou View
Today though, our interest lies in this direction. You can't really see it from here, but the old village is on the left bank towards the top of the reservoir.

Now that the Asprokremmos has well and truly overflowed, we thought we would pay another visit to our old friend Evretou. We never get bored of exploring the Cyprus countryside in Springtime, This is a good job, as social distancing prevents us from blogging about anywhere vaguely populated. The other day we took our swanky new 360 camera for a spin. The pictures proved popular, especially to people pining for a holiday cut-short. So here are the pictures we took with our usual camera as we were on our travels.Good Pages To Visit
