Cyprus In Pictures - May, 2026

Ancient History
This is Skarfos Bridge. It is one of the more accessible Venetian Bridges in Cyprus. You can find it just off the Simou Road from the B7. A few years ago it looked a bit sorry for itself. The river had changed course and no longer ran beneath it, so it stood without purpose in the middle of a field. Somebody had the very sensible idea of redirecting the river so it went under the bridge again. They also gave it a bit of TLC and now it looks fab.
Agios Georgios Chapel
The area around the chapel in Agios Georgios has also been renovated. These days it looks lovely.
Paphos Harbour
This was another vintage drone shot. It is nice to be able to fly again now.
Paphos Boardwalk
I shall never tire of walking along this trail.
Giant Fennel
Shots like these are never that popular, but I won't stop showing off the Cypriot countryside, especially when it is so unseasonally green still. As well as the fennel you can also admire the erosion in the distance.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
