Aphrodite's Trail
Familiar Road

I have driven many times over the Akamas, and know my way around, so I was able to work out an interesting route back without getting lost. Hopefully though, in amongst all the plans for the Akamas, they will include improved signage for the trails. The main rule I had was to keep to the left of the road at the top.

Rocky Descent

I am always fascinated by the variety of rock and soil types you find in Cyprus. The latter part of the route looks completely different from the start.
Chrysochou Bay

The path tended to spread out over a wide area here. I think I shall nick this shot actually, and use it as one of our daily Kalimera shots on Facebook. It is a lovely view.

The Official Route?

Looking back up the route we came down, I think the reverse route is also slightly easier going. I certainly wouldn't fancy doing this bit in the rain. I mention this because later once we finished the walk we drove to the Blue Lagoon itself, only to have it pour down. So don't assume that if you start the walk in bright sunshine, you will necessarily finish it like that.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
