Rocky Road

Anyway, let's follow the road to Blue Lagoon. As you can see, it is not in the best state. However, it used to be a lot worse

Distant Chapel

If you look carefully you can see a white building in the hills on the left of the picture. This is an Akamas Chapel we first wrote about way back in 2016. In fact if you look at that article you can see how much the road has improved.

The Direct Route

If you want a direct route to the chapel, you can clamber straight up the side of the hill from here. Presumably that is why the shrine is here. I don't recommend this though. You are much better off sticking to the path.

Turn Left Here

Soon after the shrine a smaller footpath veers left off the main track. There is a sign on the right to give you another clue, though you can't really see it in this shot.

The Sign

It is a bit puzzling as to why the sign is placed where it is. It is of most benefit to somebody arriving from the direction of the Blue Lagoon, but I doubt many hikers looking for the Aphrodite Trail will be coming from that direction.
