From White River Beach to Arodes
Picnic View

If you do decide to have a picnic here, the view will not disappoint.

Akamas Farm

That picnic spot is at the top of this hill. We have driven past the farm to take this shot, and are looking back up the road. From here on in the journey is a lot less bumpy. We were expecting there to be a couple of barking dogs at the farm, which is why we drove here before stopping. However they were nowhere to be found. They aren't aggressive, but I don't like stopping to take pictures if it agitates the local guard dogs.
Return to Snake Valley

From this view point, you could see more of Snake Valley. I walked up most of that before I nearly trod on the first snake I found down there. I remember it well, I had to twist in the air to avoid stepping on it and landed very painfully on my knee. The snake vanished straight away, and I was able to retrieve the camera I dropped. But it was a whopper.
Mysterious Gorge

On the other side of the ridge we were on, I spotted this mysterious gorge. I say mysterious because I hadn't noticed it before. I would love to go visit it, but I imagine that when I arrived it would be disappointing. This sort of gorge has a tendancy of being completely overgrown (and full of snakes).
Maybe one day...

Some routes into the Akamas are bumpier than others. In this blog take a relatively bump free route which would suite the more cautious amongst you.
Liesegang Rings in the Akamas
As 2016 draws to a close we decided to take a final trip to the Akamas. We have been trying to locate some interesting fossils we saw a few years ago, and the last couple of times we had tried we had ended up somewhere else. We found the right route this time though.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
