The Grey Cliffs of Paphos - Part 3
Cliff Structure

One thing the building work does is give us an idea of the structure of the cliffs. I am no Geologist but I imagine that this was once a sea bed. There are a number of hills where we have found evidence of sea beds, in the form of seashell fossils. They are all further above sea level than this point, so it is reasonable to assume that this was once all underwater.

Cliff Top Apartments

I imagine that the people living in the houses they are building are going to feel a bit weird sat in their back gardens, when they have all these apartments overlooking them.
Old Pond

I could see a water feature up ahead. The reason I originally started exploring the cliffs was because somebody on the forum had mentioned an Archaeological Dig underneath them. They also mentioned a pond, so this could indicate that the dig site was nearby...
The Dig Site

And sure enough, here it is. I finally found it!
Stagnant Pond

Apparently there used to be goldfish in this pond, and the water was a lot cleaner. According to the person who mentioned it on the forum, the developers have totally mucked it up. They drained it earlier in the year, and all the goldfish were left to die. I have no idea what the long term plans are, but hopefully it will be restored to its former glory. Let's face it, people will pay good money to live by a nice water feature, but a stagnant pool will be very unattractive.
Oh, one other thing of note. There is a little chapel in the woods on the right of this shot. I need to visit it at some point. I didn't notice it when I was here, but saw it on the map afterwards.
