Paphos Seafront and Bar Street Renovations
Just Another Day...

Of course, some people couldn't see what all the fuss is about.

Onwards And Upwards

Once I had finished with the Sea Front, I wandered up towards Bar Street. I drove through it a few days ago, and they appeared to be builders there, so I wanted to check it out. So I headed up the road immediately in front of Pingouino's. I took this shot looking back towards the Sea Front.
The Notorious End Of Bar Street

Sure enough, they are doing up the corner place next to Notorious. They were also doing some work on the opposite side of the little roundabout there. Whether this work will continue down Bar Street towards the SODAP Beach I don't know. But Paphos is changing!
There will be a film published later today that shows Bar Street in more detail. As I say in the film though, Bar Street is actually quite long, and it is only the last section that looks in a mess. The rest of it, like the Sea Front, is open for business.
Paphos From Above

There was a huge response to last week's article, showing the removal of the signs. Most of it was very negative, which was a shame. Paphos is evolving, but this is not a new thing. Take a look at the shot above. It has a nice overhead view of the Almyra Hotel and the bustling city around it.
Less Than Fifty Years Ago...

The above picture was provided by Max, a member of our Paphoslife forum. This shot is of the same hotel, taken in the 70s. I imagine the hotel has been renovated several times since, but the point is, look what the surrounding area was like back then. No buildings, only fields. There wasn't even the beloved coast path! Yet there are no doubt some people who will look at this picture and get all misty-eyed about how much better Paphos was back then.
Everywhere evolves and changes, and Paphos is no different. If the seafront evolves in a similar fashion to Old Town, I think the end result will be amazing.
