Polemi Rocks! (and pond)
Over The Top

So instead, I decided to walk higher and around the top of the rocks. Unfortunately, to do this, I had to negotiate a field of brambles.

Oddly Familiar

From this angle the rock looks a bit like one of those Moai Statues you get at Easter Island.
Downstream

There was a nice view from up here, but some of the rocks made an odd sound as I walked on them...
Hollow

A lot of the rocks were actually hollow. This made me watch my step and I was also hyper-alert for snakes. When you are walking around areas which have sudden drops, it is important not to get distracted by snakes. The danger here is not so much in getting bitten, but in my reaction to seeing a snake. I tend to move fairly rapidly in a vertical direction, and land rather painfully. It frightens any snake away pronto, but is not to be encouraged when you are standing next to a cliff edge, albeit a small one.

I was intrigued by the rocks on the other side of the gorge, so went down for a closer look. Alex shares my love of interesting rocks, as you can see...

Polemi Pond
Outside of Winter and Spring, a lot of Cyprus is very arid. Polemi, centrally placed in Paphos and surrounded by vineyards, remains greener than most. It even has a village pond. Admitedly, you have to go for a bumpy drive to find it, and very few people probably know that it is there, but find it we did.
Polemi Rocks! (and pond)
We return to the Polemi Countryside in this article, as we have unfinished business. There is a rocky outcrop that needs exploring, and Alex needs to be introduced to Polemi Pond. The results are very colourful, especially if you like frogs.Good Pages To Visit

We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
