Polemi Rocks! (and pond)
Gypsum Harvest
I think this shot shows where gypsum has been mined in chunks.
Polemi Stegosaurus
This picture Alex took reminds me of an old dinosaur, so I immediately had a lot of empathy towards it.
Side View Of The Rocks
I had wondered about reaching the bottom of the rocks from this side, but as you can see, it was just a huge mass of thorns and brambles, so I would have to appreciate them from afar. To be honest I was quite glad. Had I been able to reach the base of the rocks I might have been tempted to climb them.
Back To The Pond
So, having explored the rocks, I returned to the pond. I photographed this toad, who was staring me down. Or did I? It eventually hopped away, which would suggest to me that it was in fact a frog. But it certainly has the brown of a toad. Most puzzling.
Now, this series of blog articles has got such high production values that you might think all the shots were taken on one visit. But in fact I made about four trips (I lost count in the excitement). On my final visit I brought Alex along, and I shall leave her to show off Polemi Pond with some beautiful pictures. And make sure you view them all, as there is a film afterwards.
Here There Be Frog
I shall let the pictures speak for themselves.

Polemi Pond
Outside of Winter and Spring, a lot of Cyprus is very arid. Polemi, centrally placed in Paphos and surrounded by vineyards, remains greener than most. It even has a village pond. Admitedly, you have to go for a bumpy drive to find it, and very few people probably know that it is there, but find it we did.Polemi Rocks! (and pond)
We return to the Polemi Countryside in this article, as we have unfinished business. There is a rocky outcrop that needs exploring, and Alex needs to be introduced to Polemi Pond. The results are very colourful, especially if you like frogs.Good Pages To Visit
