Paphos From Above
Hidden Beach

You wouldn't know from looking at this picture, but there is a lovely Blue Flag beach down there, and there is also a handy car park! Pachyammos Beach is very popular with families staying in the area because of the protective reef that surrounds it and the lovely golden sand.

Municipal Beach

The main reason for the carpark though, is that there is also a Municipal Beach here. You can see it in the centre of the shot. In front of that is a small harbour. To the left of that harbour you can just make out an oasis of green. They have Wedding Ceremonies here. You can find out more information on getting married in Cyprus by taking a look at our companion wedding site - Cyprus Brides. You will find lots of information there. If you want somebody to actually perform the ceremony, we recommend you talk to the good people at Your Cyprus Wedding.
The Elephant In The Room

Now, it is time to address that which has been lurking in the back of some of these pictures: the new tower. Here you can see it looming behind the new SODAP Beach Cafe (which looks lovely, by the way).
Monster of Future Perfect?

A lot of people don't like this construction. I won't bother listing the phrases used, as they will no doubt appear in comments on this article. Suffice it to say, however, that some people aren't happy. Myself, I am reserving judgement until the building is constructed and we can see what it looks like. I used to work on Canary Wharf, when they were building that. I know that there is a huge difference to what a building under construction looks like compared to the finished product.
But make no mistake, Paphos is changing. The Mayor himself makes no secret of this. You may not like it, but it is, along with the rest of the world. Too many people see constructions like this and assume that people have been bribed in order for the building to go ahead. These people really need to put up or shut up. They also need to pay a bit more attention to the news outlets, where new Business Plans get published long in advance. Failing that, take a look at all the billboards promoting the Neapolis. What's that going to look like when it is finished? Bloody huge I imagine, and bloody lovely, if it is anything like the planning drawings I saw a while ago. Places do change. They evolve. Paphos is no longer the shady fishing village it used to be. It has evolved into the city most of us now love. It will keep evolving. Hopefully it won't evolve into another Benidorm, but why should it? Why can't Paphos evolve into a thing of beauty? Surely it deserves its chance to shine?
Sandier Beaches

One more rant before I go back to the ace photo descriptions. This new cafe got a lot of stick because apparently it completely ruined the beach, when of course, it didn't. There is plenty of beach still there, as you can plainly see, and it is a lovely one at that.
