Paphos Chinese Garden Revisited
Last year we reported on the new Chinese Playground that had been built in Paphos. If you remember it featured twelve statues symbolising the various years in the Chinese Calendar. We were recently passing, and decided to see how it was getting on.
Empty Plinths
The swings and climbing frames are all still intact. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the statues.
No Body Home
I wonder what happened to the rest of this one?
Headless Tigger
In fact, most of the statues seem to have been removed.
Despite this, the park is very popular with kids, when they are allowed on it.
I think the lesson to be learned here is don't put fragile statues in Children's Play Areas.
You can't blame the kids. This is what they do. This is what they have always done.
One problem a lot of parks suffer from is lack of maintenance. There are a number of parks planned for Paphos in the near future. I do hope they include a decent maintenance plan in their budget.
