Paphos Carnival Is Coming!
Paphos Carnival is on Saturday, and starts at 3PM. A lot of people have been asking online about it, so we have put together a little guide showing you a map of the route and what to expect.
Previously at Carnival...

Every Spring the Carnival Season comes to Cyprus. Lasting a week or more, it ends with a main event in the cities. This Saturday, the Carnival comes to Paphos. It begins at 3PM. Well, kind of. Normally it is a few minutes after that when the floats start to trundle past. But from about 2:30PM the area from Kennedy Square down the B6 towards the monument to Makarios 3 fills up with people who have come to have a good time, squirt foam and toot on horns. The main road is obviously closed to traffic, so park further afield and walk it. There is lots of parking in Old Town, so my advice is to head there if you have a car.

This is a map of the current route. When we first started reporting on the Carnival, back in 2017, it was held down at the Sea Front and on Poseidonos Avenue. In recent years it runs along the B6 and finishes at Kennedy Square. If you want to see the carnival as it progresses, for your own sanity you should avoid Kennedy Square, unless you get there early. It gets rammed solid there. You will find more space if you head for the area beyond the Municipal Gardens and before the Museum. On the map that is the area between Omikron Brunch and the purple icon.
Last Year...

The forecast for Saturday is dry, though rain is expected before that. Since we have been covering the event, it has been cancelled once. In that instance, they ran it a day later. If we hear that there are issues with this year's Carnival, we shall publish them on our Facebook page. So check there if you are at all worried.
The above picture is a still from last year's film we made. Well, the first part anyway.
Part 2

This still came from Part 2. It pretty much sums up what you can expact. There is a LOT of ticker tape and spray foam at the carnival. And it can get very noisy at times. Do not come dressed in your best coat.
Back In 2023

If you haven't got any tickertape or spray foam don't worry. Lots of people will be selling it on the day, and they don't charge the Earth.
If you want to get a carnival costume for yourself, I would go to somewhere like Jumbo. They usually have lots of Carnival clobber on offer.

All Change At Oniro
Oniro Restaurant can be found on the coast of Peyia, between Coral Bay and Cap St George. It is right next to the wreck of the Edro III. Or at least, it used to be. Now all that remains is a pile of rubble. What is going on? We went to see for ourselves...
The Sad Demise Of The Sea You Beach Bar
A few days ago I flew the drone around Potima Bay and took some films and pictures for our website. Literally a few minutes after I published the film, Sea You Beach Bar announced they were closing. Since then there has been talk of bulldozers, so this morning I returned to the scene to assess the situation first-hand.Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
