Paphos Carnival Is Coming!
Aerial View
In 2023 I took my drone down to film the event. I got some nice footage but it was a lot of hassle doing that and taking shots, and you don't get much of the atmosphere. Still, I combined the film with some regular content and it worked quite well. Film of 2023 Carnival.
Back In 2020
There were no carnivals during COVID, for obvious reasons, but they had one just before the first lockdowns. Read our article on the 2020 Carnival.
This picture shows one of the floats that feature at the Carnival. Expect to see a few dozen, numbered for judging purposes. I am never sure what the Carnival theme is. When they announce the date, they usually say it is Haloween. However, it never actually is Haloween, and I think that that is just a mistranslation.
Carnival Hyperlapse
The above somewhat blurry still is taken from our Carnival 2020 Hyperlapse film. That shows you the entire event in about 5 minutes.
There is also a regular film of Paphos Carnival 2020. When I recorded that, I stayed in the same place and let the Carnival walked past me. It is good for filming all the floats, but again it doesn't pick up on all the atmosphere. This year I plan on going up and down the route like I did last year. It's more fun that way!
And Finally...
This was back in 2018. You will see a number of large floats like this, but most are smaller with the focus on the dancing troupe that follows ore precedes the vehicle.
If you come to the Carnival you will have a great time. Enjoy yourself and don't fuss if you end up covered in foam or tickertape. Remarkably it all gets cleared away again very quickly. Let's hope for dry weather on Saturday!

A few days ago I flew the drone around Potima Bay and took some films and pictures for our website. Literally a few minutes after I published the film, Sea You Beach Bar announced they were closing. Since then there has been talk of bulldozers, so this morning I returned to the scene to assess the situation first-hand.Good Pages To Visit
