Heed The Warning

A good way to maintain social distancing is to avoid having to be rescued from the sea. And a good way to do that is to take heed of signs like this. Note that it doesn't say "No Swimming", it is just giving you advice, which you should heed. There are other signs dotted along the coast, and flags. The signs say "Don't go swimming if the flag is flying" and yet people still do. And people drown. Every year there are fatalities along this coastline, so don't ignore the signs. They are there for your benefit, nobody else's.

Coral Bay Strip

Friday, mid afternoon, and Coral Bay is fairly quiet. Driving down the main road though, I could see that some of the restaurants are open for business, so you will be able to get fed.

Now this looks a lot nicer than it usually does. Normally, the sunbeds here are packed in like sardines.

Changing Room

I guess that as the tourist numbers increase, the regulations might have to be changed, otherwise there won't be enough beaches to go around. It is self-regulating though. There won't be more tourists (ie Group C), until Group A and B have arrived and not caused a spike in cases. So by the time the tourist numbers get large, the powers that be will know it is safe to ease restrictions anyway.

If you don't know about Group A, B and C, see this article:

Please note though, that you can now apply for the pass up to 24 hours before your flight, not 72 as stated.

So, if you are a resident and normally avoid Coral Bay because of the crowds, now is the perfect time to go for a visit and have a laze on a sunbed. You can see more pictures of the beach in our directory:
